Mercy

The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindess.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.

As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

Psalm 103:8,10,11-13;1

Wow. What a Psalm. That is exactly what I needed to read early in the morning. If only I would be blessing the Lord with all that is within me. There was a time when I did that every day. Now, I have to fight for joy (as Piper says) in God, and I need His grace to lead me to do it. He does not give us what our sins deserve. Praise the LORD!
